           where it all began
 

The owner and designer of the North Wood Blanket Co., Lori Norwood, was born and raised in London, Ontario and attended the University of Waterloo (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada) where she earned her Honours Degree in Urban and Regional Planning & Design.  Since university, Lori has had a successful marketing career for a leading global computer wholesale company.

Lori’s love of sewing began at the young age of 12.  She learned to sew on her mother's antique sewing machine which only sewed a straight line in forward and reverse!  For Lori’s 16th birthday she was given a new sewing machine and has been sewing clothing and home decor items for pleasure ever since.

The second part of this story is Lori's love of second hand and thrift stores; both clothing and furniture. During Lori's university days, when money was tight, she often purchased household items and some clothing to keep her budget on track.  Since that time, second-hand shopping has become a pastime.  

With that, the North Wood Blanket Company was born; bringing both loves together into one successful business.

Lori now lives in Milton, Ontario, Canada with her husband, Graham, their two boys, Jaxen and Breton and their Siberian Husky, Blush.

Founded in April 2004, the North Wood Blanket Co. makes 100% recycled wool blankets and produces a line of personalized products. 

All their products are handmade in the studio in Milton, Ontario, Canada.
